P7 trip

17th Jun 2021

Today our P7s had a trip to Belfast. This proved to be a great way to finish off their WAU studies this year with a visit to many of the places which featured in their ‘lockdown’ lessons.
To start off the day, we visited the shipyard area and saw the ‘workers’ on their way to Harland & Wolff shipyard, all under the watchful eyes of the iconic cranes, ‘Samson’ & ‘Goliath.’ A tour around the Titanic centre brought our ‘lockdown’ learning to life and we gleaned even more information about this historic ship. We also boarded ‘SS Nomadic’ which was the tender boat that transported passengers from shallow ports to the liner. We were able to stand in the ‘Arrol Gantry’ area and imagine what it would have been like during the construction of Titanic. No school outing is ever complete without a spending spree in the souvenir shop, and today’s adults take no responsibility for purchases made!!πŸ™ˆπŸ˜†
The next part of the day was at C.S. Lewis square, the featured author throughout P7. The ‘happy meals’ from the nearby McDonalds helped to revive everyone and give us renewed energy to look for the statues of characters that feature in Lewis’ well-known novel, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”
Our day finished with a history tour of the City Hall and poignant moment in Titanic Memorial garden inside its grounds.
Everyone had a fantastic time & enjoyed spending the day with good friends, having fun & making memories!πŸ‘πŸ»
