P3 celebrate VE Day ... 80 years on!

8th May 2025
We had a great day today from our assembly this morning with Major Shields of the Irish Guards to our street party at lunch time.
Children and adults alike came to school dressed in costume from 1940’s or ready for a party! In assembly Major Shields talked about life in the Irish Guards and why it is important to remember the sacrifice made by so many people over 80 years ago.
After break, our class enjoyed playing old games in the playground. We played clapping games, in and out through the dusty bluebells and hopscotch, just like the children did back in 1945.
Our street party at lunch was great fun. The sun shone and the party food was a great treat! In class we listened to music that was played in the 1940’s and we learned about VE Day back 80 years ago. Our school day ended this afternoon with art activities based on the topic of VE Day. A fun day was had by all! Thank you to the parents for all your efforts dressing your children in costume for this special occasion.
