P4 make Easter Nests

28th Mar 2023

P4 had a fun morning making Easter Nests. They melted chocolate and stirred in some rice crispies. Everyone got to spoon their mixture into their bun case before placing 2 mini eggs on top. We had to be patient and leave the bun time to set. What a lovely treat everyone had once the long wait was over!
We also did some problem solving as we were baking. P4 had to estimate how many squares of chocolate there were in a block. We found out there were 60. Then we checked the weight on the package, it weighed 360gm. Using the calculator we discovered each square would weigh approximately 6gm. P4 had to complete a division sum to work this out. We were then curious to look at the weight of the mini eggs packet, it weighed 80gm. After some more estimates we check to see how many mini eggs it had. The answer was 25. Again using a calculator P4 did a division sum to work out the weight of one mini egg.  Everyone had a fun morning.
